Ladies and gentleman, the dignitaries, delegates who come from various part of the world into our country.

It gives me great pleasure to be here amongst you to share a few thoughts on the very relevant subject that has been taken up at this summit.

"Intelligent Transport Systems" is very significant in the Indian scenario. This event will raise awareness of transportation technology solutions as developed and deployed in different regions of the world.

Worldwide, ITS are evolving new tools for management of vehicles, roads and people. We, in India, are also keen to incorporate these emerging technologies into our systems for optimization of output from the transport sector and at the same time ensuring maximum road safety and minimum damage to the environment.

Automotive Industries in India is making big strides and catering to the changing demands of the public in the area of transportation whereas new challenges relating to road safety and vehicular pollution. Moreover, it need for achieving transport productivity in accordance with international benchmark is also matter of concern for all of us.

I hope and wish this conference will address all such demanding challenges which will help us in ensuring the safe and convenient transportation system in the Indian context.

I am sure; the deliberations during the conference would be intensive and interesting there is a way for concrete and affordable solution especially in the automobile industries. They can also serve as inputs for policy initiative in this sector.

I would also like to congratulate AITS India of bringing Government, Academia and Industry together for realizing safety and sustainability in the transportation sector of India through ITS. We look forward for more collaborated efforts in the future.

I wish the 7th Asia-Pacific ITS Conference & exhibition 2005 is grant success.

With these words I wish you all the best you have come all the way to our country and will gain whatever will be deliberations in the conference and from there we go for future development of our transport systems safety and public awareness and control of pollution.

Hon'ble Minister, Mr. Bajpai, distinguished delegates.

It's a great pleasure and privilege that such a important meeting hosted here on behalf of the ministry and on behalf of the minister I welcome you all and wish you very successful deliberations and am sure the benefits out of this deliberation quite lot.
